Cara Delevingne's Tangerine "Paper Towns" Eyes
Besides the ditching of the eyeliner, another trend that we're seeing on the red carpet is a different spin on the smokey eye. At the recent Paper Towns photo call in Sydney, Cara Delevingne sported eyes that were heavily accented with tangerine. It's a refreshing move away from the usual earth and natural tones and the strong colour rendered the model almost villainous – even more so when paired with her sea green Dion Lee cut-out dress. She may not be playing Poison Ivy in the Suicide Squad, but she could very well be channeling the seductive villaness in this get-up.
To recreate Delevingne's look, makeup artist Sha Shamsi recommends the applying of YSL Beauty's Couture Mono Eyeshadow in Facon (SGD$45) all over the eye socket, followed by the blending of the top two colours from the Bleus Lumiere Palette (SGD$89) or NARS's Matte Eyeshadow in Persia (SGD$38). "Blend some along the lower lid for added drama", she adds. To accentuate the corners, use a little of NARS's Matte Eyeshadow (SGD$38) in Grenadine at the lash line and blend outwards. Finish off with Guerlain's Max Waterproof Mascara ($52) and a subtle dusting of YSL Beauty's Blush Radiance in No4 (SGD$70) on the cheeks. "If you prefer a more dewy finish – and would like a go at the strobing trend – apply Naked Illuminated (SGD$43) to the top of the cheeks, a little on the nose and forehead."
