Coach Fall 2018

Two words: dark romance.
Reading time 2 minutes

That was the vibe channelled in Stuart Vever's Fall 2018 men's and women's collection for Coach, which was presented at New York Fashion Week.

Held at the Basketball City in Manhattan, the show left no discerning traces of the venue's state-of-the-arts basketball courts. Instead, the whole space was transformed by set designer Stefan Beckman into a haunting vision of a forest, complete with layers of dead leaves and twisted, waif-like trees.

The spooky fairytale aura didn't end there. Seeming almost spectral in their movements, models wafted through the trees in ribbons and sheer prairie dresses that billowed behind them. The models were hardly to be mistaken for nymphs dwelling in the woods, however. The softness of their dresses was sharply contrasted by the American brand's signature fabric, leather — and lots of it.

Resembling the huntress more than the hunted, the models' armour of choice consisted of leather biker jackets (if they weren't already clad in the shearling and varsity variety) and boots.

It was the bags, though, that truly stole the show. The devil was in the details: some bags were lined with fringes and tassels, while others were adorned with whipstitches and embroidery.

Holding a special importance in the collection was the Dreamer (right), Coach's newly christened must-have bag of the season.

Constructed of glovetanned leather, the charming three-compartment satchel comes in deep shades of red, green, purple and blue. It also features exclusive bag charms from the collection, such as feathers and the iconic "C" emblem from Coach's logo.

(For those eager to get their hands on it, the Dreamer is already available for purchase on, select Coach stores and Neiman Marcus — but only for a limited time.)

It goes without saying that Coach's latest presentation was quite the spectacle. Some of the guests who got to watch it unfold firsthand include Coach ambassador and singer, Selena Gomez; American actresses Storm Reid and Sasha Lane; model Kiko Mizuhara; photographer Petra Collins; and musicians Poppy, Vic Mensa, Joey Bada$$.
