Each timepiece is presented in a special leather watch roll containing a black and white NATO strap with #SpeedyTuesday engraved on the strap’s loop. The roll also contains a strap changing tool.

I am a die-hard fan of anything NASA-related, including the Omega Speedmaster. In 1978, after the model became the first watch worn on the moon, the space agency tapped the Swiss watchmaking house to develop a unique timepiece for the crew of its manned missions. The catch: it had to be anti-reflective and easy to read in the unpredictable environments of outer space. The result was the Alaska Project III, a well thought out chronograph which had a reverse panda dial, where white, opaline-silvery sub-dials are set against a deep black background.

A nod to that watch, Omega has now unveiled a brand new limited-edition Speedmaster named the Speedy Tuesday (fun fact: #SpeedyTuesday is a online community of Speedmaster lovers around the world who share photographs of their own on, well, every Tuesday). Limited to only 2012 pieces in the world, the new 42mm model comes with a brushed, matte-finish stainless steel case and, of course, the reverse panda dial that made its predecessor famous.

The catch: the Speedy Tuesday is only available online. Reserve a model here (word has it that you can even specify the limited-edition number you want, if it’s available). All watches will be delivered during summer later this year.
