We totally guessed it. Last week, Prada made waves in the beauty world when it sent gold-lipped models down the Milan Fashion Week runway. The colour, created by fashion’s favourite beauty guru Pat McGrath, was rich and deeply pigmented, and unlike any gold lipstick we’ve seen on the market. Shortly after Prada’s show, McGrath posted three mysterious videos of a conical flask of gold glitter being mixed, leading us to speculate that she is finally releasing her own line of makeup, starting first with that gold lipstick that everyone is still talking about. Turns out, we were 75 percent correct.
McGrath has announced today that she is indeed releasing her first product, but it isn’t a gold lipstick like we thought. Instead, it’s a metallic gold pigment formally called “Gold 001”, which will be launched under Pat McGrath Labs. A site has been created for her brand, though there’s nothing much on it yet save for a mailing list sign-up box and a timer which, as of today, is set at 20 days and 12 hours. Curiouser and curiouser. Whatever it is, we know it’s going to be worth the wait.
