Loewe’s Debut Sneakers Are Classy Yet Fun

After teasing us with a preview in the Fall/Winter 2015 campaign, Loewe finally drops its debut sneaker this spring. Touted as its latest classic, the sneaker is a marriage between the shape of a bowling shoe and characteristic sneaker elements. Fully understanding the need for variety, the new shoe is available in an array of colour and material combinations, including the house’s signature Oro suede. And for the young-at-heart, nonconformists out there, Loewe also issues the new sneaker in calf printed with the space-travel inspired ‘Galaxy’ motif – yes, the same motif employed across the season’s ready-to-wear collection.

Congruent to the house’s usual elevated manufacturing standards, expect details like a honey rubber sole stitched to the shoe, flexible extra-soft insoles, hand-painted edges and perforated side panels. Said Jonathan Anderson of his new design, “I wanted the first Loewe sneaker to be young, easy and fun, but also for it to have a collectible edge.” So classy, but so playful. Who says adults can’t have fun? The full collection will be in stores come January 2016.
