Having worked with amfAR over the past two years, Harry Winston is no stranger to the world of philanthropy. This year, the established jeweller was also the presenting sponsor for amfAR’s seventh Annual Inspiration, a fundraising event that aids research and awareness for HIV/AIDS.
The black tie gala kicked off with a menswear fashion show, where models wore timepieces and accessories by Harry Winston, including the exclusive Countdown to a Cure timepiece. Celebrities the likes of Chanel Iman, Naomi Campbell and Zayn Malik turned up in support of the meaningful cause; model Valery Kaufman, actress Victoria Justice and singer Jason Derulo also arrived, sporting timeless jewellery by Harry Winston.
The Countdown to a Cure amfAR 42mm is a limited edition series, of which there are 20 men’s watches and 20 women’s watches. A percentage of the retail sales from the watch will go towards the research and development of a cure for HIV by year 2020. One of the timepieces in the popular Midnight Collection, the 42mm 18k white gold men’s version has a multi-coloured outer seconds track on its navy blue dial. The women will receive a more blinged-out version – with 12 brilliant-cut diamonds and 19 precious gemstones forming the countdown motif on the 32mm gold watch.
